Under general supervision from the laboratory manager and consistent with department policies the Technologist II will ensure: accurate diagnostic results, prepare patients for and conducts routine and special END procedures such as routine, ambulatory, neonatal, LTME, EP's, outpatients, neuro monitoring in the EMU, bedside in critical care units, all age groups, WADA's, mentor junior neurodiagnostic tand END students (performing clinical rotation). Requires extensive knowledge of epilepsy with regards to recognition, classification, and treatment. The technologist will monitoring in the EMU, support to Inova OU EEG labs, assigned to the on-call rotation.
One year experience as an EEG technician/technologist in an inpatient setting or office setting. Six months experience performing Electroencephalogram (EEG) and evoked potential studies; respiratory care or sleep disorder testing background.
High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited ectroneurodiagnostic technology program or equivalent experience
Special training and resultant expertise in the recognition of ictal and inter-ictal electrographic patterns; expertise in management of clinical seizure and/or other medical emergencies. CPR for all age groups required. Eligible for/or successful completion of Part II (oral) examination for registration by ABRET (EEG and/or Evoked Potential) or completion of examination by an equivalent examination body.
Proficient in English. Verbal and written communication skills, typing and computer skills.
