The Epilepsy LTM/OR Technologist performs comprehensive electroneurodiagnostic monitoring on pre-surgical and intraoperative epilepsy patients with analysis, and associated interventions along with therapeutic services, patient care and education. This includes the completion of high quality tests, report generation, record keeping and all related support activities. The Epilepsy LTM/OR Technologist assists the physicians and other health care professionals in related technical areas as needed. Prepares presentations and contributes at regional and national conferences relating to electroneurodiagnostic testing with special emphasis on long term monitoring.
The Epilepsy LTM/OR Technologist is required to maintain and improve his/her level of clinical and technical knowledge across all disciplines of the diagnostic neurosciences. Functions with minimal level of supervision.
Special Clinical Competencies:
Video EEG Monitoring and Interpretation
Assists and records during intra-operative and extra-operative direct cortical stimulation studies
Performs EEG recordings during special procedures including WADA, PET and SPECT.
Assists and performs clinical epilepsy research and databases.
Performs routine EEG’s and Evoked Potentials
Surgical monitoring with EEG and Evoked Potentials
Registered by ABRET (American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists) in EEG (REEGT).
Minimum of five years clinical experience in EEG/EP, including intraoperative monitoring in all modalities
Minimum of two years experience with intra-cranial EEG monitoring; extra-operative and intra-operative cortical stimulation mapping, electrocorticography and WADA testing.
Minimum of three years clinical experience at a level IV Epilepsy Surgical Center in the video monitoring of patients for Pre-surgical evaluation, Seizure classification, Diagnostic monitoring
CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS Certification from American Red Cross)
