A R. EEGT Neurodiagnostic Technologist (NDT) is a mid-level position in the field of Neurodiagnostics. Under general supervision of the IDI Supervisor, the onsite NDT performs duties including EEG/cEEG/AEEG patient studies, inclusive of patient hookups, real-time viewing and collection of EEG data and annotation of abnormalities and events; per company protocol for four primary hospitals in the UC Health system (MCR, PVH, LPH, and GH). The onsite NDT will follow critical value procedures per company and reading physician protocols with the UC Health Reading Neurologist. This position includes marking, clipping, and pruning studies, archiving data, and providing a descriptive analysis per company and hospital policy and procedures. The onsite NDT will also perform electrode maintenance, complete daily charging of studies, facilitate delivery of reports as appropriate, assist in training of Neurodiagnostic Assistants, and perform other duties as assigned. The purpose of EEG testing is to reduce the incidence of neurological effects from prolonged seizure activity (or to identify activity as non-seizure activity to prevent unnecessary medication delivery), improve outcomes in critically ill patients, and prompt more timely clinical decisions.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
1. Neurodiagnostic Equipment
Works independently to perform EEG/cEEG/AEEG hookup, calibrates acquisition machine, evaluates and adjusts equipment, and optimizes recording parameters to acquire relevant data and

Uses standardized ACNS terminology when creating a technical description
Understands medical and pharmacological/anesthetic conditions that influence the EEG study.
Exercises independent judgement in determining when critical value events and brainwave patterns require the notification of the on-call cEEG reading physician.
Aids the Neurodiagnostic Assistant to ensure future hook-ups are high quality.
During completion of neurodiagnostic studies, NDT:
Verifies recording and electrode integrity
Displays most appropriate montage
Documents all stimulation performed
Identifies and documents artifact reduction techniques
Inputs patient information to create database file (demographic information and descriptive data) for EEG/cEEG/AEEG patients.
Accurately documents during each patient timeout process.
Displays, labels, and clips waveforms for interpretation; follows established guidelines and facility
Communicates with ICU staff regarding the need for sedatives, muscle relaxants, and/or anesthetics based upon established critical values or communications from physicians.
Documents most recent neuro assessment observed, and clinical changes as observed.
Notates any skin breakdown, according to IDI and facility policy.
Notates alternative electrode placements, according to IDI and facility policy.
Demonstrates the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact with medical staff, patients, visitors, and other hospital employees;
