Experienced Neurodiagnostic Technologist to work in a multi-disciplinary department to perform IONM(55%), ICU(15%), LTM(15%), EEG(10%) and Administrative(5%) on patients ranging in age from neonates to geriatrics. Neurodiagnostic Technology is the medical diagnostic field that is dedicated to recording the function of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles using a variety of techniques/instruments. Throughout the country, tens of thousands of specialized tests are performed each year by Neurodiagnostic Technologists under the supervision of licensed physicians. The results of clinical tests are used to diagnose potentially life-threatening neurological disorders. Advanced monitoring is also performed during brain and spine surgery. Neurodiagnostic Technologists act as a physician extender to reduce the risks of death, stroke and paralysis. The advanced skills provided by Neurodiagnostic Technologists help to maintain the quality of life and many times, save lives. Tests to be performed: Intraoperative Neuromonitoring [IONM] for Craniotomies, Spine and, ENT surgeries using modalities EEG (Electroencephalogram), Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SEP), Motor Evoked Potentials (MEP), Spontaneous Electromyogram (sEMG), Triggered Electromyogram (tEMG) Brainstem Auditory Evoked Responses (BAER), Cranial Nerve, Facial Nerve, Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve monitoring (RLN), Motor Mapping, Pedicle Screw testing, Carotid Endarterectomies (CEA/TCAR), GRID placement and Electrocorticography (EcOG).) Evoked Potentials [EP] to include SEP, MEP, BAER and Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP). Diagnostic -Specialized EEG – WADA, GRID. Intensive Care Monitoring (ICU) using Continuous Video EEG (vEEG). Long Term Monitoring (LTM) using Continuous Video EEG (vEEG). Electroencephalogram [EEG], using digital and Video EEG (vEEG).
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Neurodiagnostic which includes at least 1 year in IONM.
Registered or registry eligible EEG Technologist by the American Board of Registration of EEG Technologists (ABRET). Extra consideration for registration EP Technologist credential.
Certification in Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring (CNIM*) credential
Credentials in Neurodiagnostic from other nations may also be considered as fulfillment of the registry requirements.
Must have a thorough understanding of digital and analog EEG/EPS equipment. Requires good communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish good rapport with patients, public and staff, and to deal with severely ill patients.
Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) Program, or a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is desired.
