Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Neurophysiology Technologist (1.0 FTE, Variable Shift) in EEG at Swedish Issaquah in Issaquah, WA.
Our epilepsy program has a national reputation for medical and surgical treatment of seizure disorders and is accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as a level-four epilepsy center, which indicates the most comprehensive level of care for patients with epileptic seizures.
The Swedish Neurophysiology program is accredited by the ABRET in EEG, LTM, CLTM and NIOM. Our pediatric epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) is moving to Issaquah, a beautiful campus located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range 20 minutes east of downtown Seattle. This position serves the pediatric EMU and PICU, as well as inpatient EEG’s and outpatient EEG’s and evoked potential studies.
In this position you will: • Responsible for long term pediatric epilepsy monitoring and other testing that is required(i.e. WADA, and radiopharmaceutical injection) in all patient care area • Performs all levels of neurodiagnostic testing according to established protocols and provides technical interpretation • Ability to operate electronic /computerized EEG monitoring equipment • Set-up and maintain surface or implanted electrodes • Analytical skills necessary to identify seizure activity and provide technical impression to physician interpreter • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients and exchange information with physicians,nurses, EEG technologists, and office staff • Utilizes clinical judgment of patient status to seek additional nursing and provider support. • Responsible for the calibration and operation of all epilepsy testing equipment and utilizes troubleshooting skills to correct machine malfunctions • Responsible for logging and submitting all information for interpretation to the electroencephalographer or physician • Responsible for assisting Lead Technologist in the training of junior staff • Maintains adequate supplies for the epilepsy monitoring unit • Understands and assures requirements for all regulatory agencies are me • Participates in conferences and technical meetings • Attends scientific courses and seminars with emphasis on long term EEG monitoring • Must be available for standby and on-call duties as assigned
Qualifications: Required qualifications for this position: • H.S. Diploma or GED and Graduate of minimum two year electroneurodiagnostic technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation. Or two years of college in a related field and/or equivalent formal training approved by the Medical Director • Required 2 years full time working in an epilepsy long term monitoring unit • Registry required by the American Board of Registration of EEG and evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).R EEG T required,CLTM preferred, must be CLTM eligible and acquire CLTM within 12 months of hiredate.
