The Neurodiagnostics team provides state-of-the-art sophisticated diagnostic services for outpatient and inpatient surgeries. Primarily responsible for performing all aspects of the Intraoperative Monitoring Program which entails educating staff, patient and families on the monitoring process. Performs and maintains all EEG and EP technical duties in the OR during surgery. Assesses neurological function of patients during their surgery and reporting data to the neuroanesthesiologist for intervention when necessary. Edits data for the permanent medical record.
“Success is where preparation and opportunity meet”:
Graduate of an accredited electroneurodiagnostic (END) technology program or have at least 2 years of college in a related field.
Training should be through an accredited END training program with emphasis on EEG, EP, epilepsy monitoring, and intraoperative monitoring. Education must include ability to recognize abnormal waveforms, localization, and identification of artifact. This position requires ability to recognize data acquired in the OR to immediately alert the neuroanesthesiologist for his input in notifying the neurosurgeon that problems are occurring which may compromise integrity of the spinal cord, nerve root, or brain.
Minimum: Three (3) years of EEG and evoked potential experience plus an additional year of experience with monitoring evoked potentials and EEG in the OR under the supervision of a qualified neurologist/neurophysiologist/neuroanesthesiologist.
Experience performing all types of EEGs and EPs, encompassing all age groups from birth to geriatric. Experience in performing EEGs, routine and long-term, on patients with seizures, mentally handicapped patients and developmentally delayed patients. OR monitoring experience under appropriate supervision.
Prefer: Five (5) years EEG experience and 1+ years of additional experience with long-term video monitoring.
Preferred credentials: EEG T. Preferred: C.N.I.M., R.EEG T. and/or R. EP T.
