Adheres to the strict criteria when performing Patient Identification - comparing, at the chair or bedside, patient information on the requisition to the in-patient's identification band, using 2 identifiers and verbal confirmation, before venipuncture is performed. For outpatients, two identifiers are maintained by asking patient to verbalize these items and comparing to the printed requisition. |

Disposes all sharps in a rigid biohazard container. Cleans and supplies phlebotomy trays. Maintains clean and organized work areas. Orders supplies when needed. Assists with stocking all laboratory supplies. |
Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties, handles direct inquiries to the appropriate Lab departments. |
Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, timed draws and trauma protocol. Knowledge of communication avenues, such as trauma pagers, and use of Vocera paging system. |
