Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG T.) Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Neurological Testing Center Chicago, Illinois Full Time, Nights, 3rd Shift
Working closely with physicians and other staff members of the Neurological Testing Center (NTC), the professional we select will provide neurological testing and/or monitoring in our ABRET LAB-LTM accredited Continuous Long Term Video Monitoring service and our NAEC designated Level 4 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. These include standard and long-term electroencephalography (EEG); Additional responsibilities will include:
Completing paperwork before study is performed, including relevant patient history.
Clarifying unclear or inappropriate orders and finalizing billing information upon completion of procedure.
Independently preparing patients for tests and/or monitoring by accurately placing recording electrodes using established protocols.
Recognizing technically inadequate signals and obtaining assistance.
Identifying abnormalities/potential changes and responding appropriately by communicating to a coordinator or neurologist.
Maintaining equipment in a clean and organized condition, including stocking supplies.
Recording studies and entering notations and clinical observations.
Encouraging teamwork through interdepartmental communication and constructive problem resolution.
Providing training for new neurodiagnostic technicians and student preceptors.
Preparing patients for procedures and providing them with explanations, addressing questions, assisting with personal hygiene as needed, and offering reassurance.

CPR-certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Registry in respective discipline (EEG, EMG) corresponding with the clinical area of work:
Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG. T) through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) for EEG
In lieu of registry: Board-registry eligibility and completion of registration within 12 month of hire
High school diploma or equivalent
In addition to EEG, registration in one or more of the following disciplines: EEG, EP, CLTM, and/or CNIM
Registration through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) for EP, CLTM, and/or CNIM
Experience in multiple ENDT modalities
