The Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) Specialist I is a mid-level position for intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM). The IONM Specialist I performs IONM procedures appropriate to their competence, including test setup, electrode application, maintaining patient safety, and other related duties. Strong, well-developed communication skills, and teamwork are essential for this position. During IONM procedures for which competence has not been achieved, the IONM Specialist I trains under direct technical supervision. Once training is completed and all required institution competencies have been achieved, the IONM Specialist I works under indirect technical supervision.
A credential in electroencephalography (R. EEG T.) and/or a credential in Evoked Potentials (R. EP T.) or a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. (Credentials in neurodiagnostics from other nations may also be considered as fulfillment of the registry requirements)
Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program, or a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university. (Preferred)
Two (2) or more years of experience in the neurodiagnostic field which includes 1 year experience in IONM. (Required)
Pediatric Experience. (Preferred)
BLS within 30 days of hire (Required)
Well-developed PC and Microsoft Windows knowledge. (Required)
