The role you’ll contribute: The Sleep Center Technologist, reporting to the Sleep Center Manager, performs quality sleep studies for all patients under minimal supervision to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Facilitates all aspects of study completion and reporting.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Performs quality sleep recordings by collecting, analyzing, and integrating pertinent patient history information, properly preparing the patient according to age, conducting the examination, and preparing the recording for the physician interpretation
- Implements appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and/or bi-level positive airway pressure (PAP) and oxygen administration and informs the nursing supervisor and/or the physician of changes in the patient’s condition or abnormalities on the recording, when necessary
- Provides patient education according to established guidelines including communicating with patients and family members on instructions in techniques to optimize their care in the Sleep Center, as well as after the testing is completed
- Maintains supplies and equipment for patient care and maintains an orderly and efficient system for storage and retrieval of patient information
- Adheres to all organizational policies, practices and federal or state regulations pertaining to patient care, privacy, and quality assurance. Actively supports and participates quality improvement initiatives
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum requirements:
- High School and minimum of 1-year experience full-time in polysomnography OR
- Associate degree in Polysomnography Technology
- Current CPR / BLS Certification
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists
Preferred qualifications:
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)
