This position is responsible for: Assessing, performing, and evaluating all therapeutic, diagnostic, and monitoring services in the Sleep Lab. In accordance with a physician's order, the sleep technologist performs procedures with independent clinical judgment under the general supervision of the Medical Director of the Sleep Lab. The sleep technologist is knowledgeable in the safe operation, calibration, maintenance, and quality control of the equipment used in the Sleep Lab. The scoring technologist is responsible for scoring studies performed during the night with accuracy and completing the report for interpretation by the provider.

Day shift, 4 10s or 5 8s.

1. Complete all duties in accordance with a written or verbal medical order and the established policies and procedures.

2. Perform the following diagnostic and therapeutic procedures:

1. Sleep studies (infants, pediatrics, adolescents) to include, but not limited to:

• • Multi channel polysomnogram w/o BIPAP/CPAP
  • Multi channel polysomnogram with BIPAP/CPAP/VENT (RRTs only)/OXYGEN
  • Multiple Sleep LatencyTest (MLST)
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with biomed for repairs/replacement

1. Primary job - Score sleep studies during day shift performed at night and generate reports with both data and narrative components for the sleep medicine provider to interpret.
2. Track and report out QA programs in the sleep lab.
3. Answer phone calls that come through the lab from parents, providers, auth team and various other departments that all work together to provide care for sleep lab patients.
4. Evaluate the reliability and reproducibility of test results, patient performance, and clinical implications.
5. Perform and document the scheduled quality control procedures as related to the proper calibration of equipment, reference controls, problem identification, corrective action, and follow up of all equipment in the Sleep lab
6. Coordinate repair and/or replacement of equipment with biomed.
7. Participate in the evaluation of sleep study equipment, supplies, and procedures.
8. Document results of studies and therapy in the medical record.
9. Participate in parent and patient education.
10. Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement; working with departments/services to improve the care provided.
11. Maintain the equipment in appropriate working order. If equipment malfunction occurs, seek to correct this with appropriate resources as soon as possible. Keep the Sleep Lab manager informed as to the malfunction and repair of the equipment.
12. Provide age- and developmental-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.

Qualifications:

1. RPSGT credential required. Scoring of sleep studies for at least 2 years required. At least 6 months pediatric experience required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.
2. Successful completion of the RPSGT exam, as administered by the Board for Registered Polysomnograhy Technologists is required.
3. Active Florida RT License is required if applicable.
4. Active Basic Life Support certification is required.
